Simone Hyams is a British former actress who spent six years as Calley Donnington on Grange Hill, one of the BBC’s best-known school dramas. Fans still search her name for the same handful of answers. What else did she appear in? What is the story behind Michael Winner? And where is she now? This guide separates verified credits from rumour and says plainly where the record runs thin.
Who Is Simone Hyams?
Simone Hyams was born on 4 October 1971 in Hammersmith, London. That makes her 54 at the time of writing, and she turns 55 on 4 October 2026. She is best known for television work in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and her on-screen career was short.
Little is confirmed about her private life. That matters, because many websites fill the gaps with guesswork. Everything below sticks to credits and claims that trace back to a named source.
The Simone Hyams Show: Grange Hill and Calley Donnington
When people type “Simone Hyams show”, they almost always mean Grange Hill. She played Caroline “Calley” Donnington in the BBC drama from 1985 to 1991. That covers seven series, and the character stayed on screen through her teens.
Episode counts differ slightly by source. TVmaze lists 121 episodes, while another profile says 122. The gap is small, but it shows why you should check any exact figure before repeating it.
One fan forum singles out the 1988 and 1989 series as her most memorable stretch. That is opinion, not record. Still, it hints at why Calley stuck in viewers’ minds.
Simone Hyams Movies and TV Shows: The Verified List
Here is a complete list of Simone Hyams movies and TV shows that I could confirm across several sources:
| Title | Year | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grange Hill | 1985–1991 | Calley Donnington | Around 121–122 episodes |
| Dirty Weekend | 1993 | Party girl | Small part; directed by Michael Winner |
| The Bill | 1993 | Josey Naylor | Guest role in “Missionary Work” |
| Baywatch | 1994 | Girl on Beach | Uncredited; episode “Mirror, Mirror” |
Her credits stop in 1994, and no later on-screen roles are listed. So the honest summary is one major role and three brief ones.
Simone Hyams Baywatch: How Big Was the Role?
Small. People who type “Simone Hyams baywatch” into a search engine often expect a lead or recurring part. The record says otherwise.
She appears as an uncredited girl on the beach in series 4, episode 15, “Mirror, Mirror”, which aired in February 1994. IMDb attaches the year 1989 to the show because that is when Baywatch began, not when she filmed. That detail trips up many quick profiles.
In other words, it was a background cameo. It is worth knowing, but it wasn’t a career turn.
Simone Hyams Micheal Winner: What the Link Refers To
Searches for “Simone Hyams Micheal Winner” (the correct spelling is Michael) point to Dirty Weekend. Winner directed the 1993 British film, which is based on a novel by Helen Zahavi. Hyams had a minor part in it.
The romantic angle comes from older biography entries. They say she became romantically linked with Winner and later sold her story to the tabloid press. I couldn’t find a primary interview or first-hand account confirming the details.
Winner died in 2013 and cannot respond. That is a good reason to treat the tabloid-era story as reported, not proven, and to avoid embellishing it.
Where the Details Get Shaky
Three things make this section hard to pin down:
- The claim traces to old encyclopedia-style entries, not a dated interview.
- Her Dirty Weekend role is described inconsistently as a party girl or a walk-on.
- No reliable source I found gives dates for the alleged relationship.
What Happened After Acting?
After 1994, the public trail thins out. One older biography says she moved into corporate events management for Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and signed with a modelling agency called Ordinary People. That entry appears to date from around 2010, so I can’t confirm it reflects her situation today.
If you’re citing this in your own writing, describe it as “previously reported”. Presenting it as current fact would go beyond the evidence.
Simone Hyams 2026: What Is She Doing Now?
I found no verified news, interviews or projects for Simone Hyams 2026. There is no confirmed comeback, no announced role and no official statement. Anyone claiming otherwise should link to a dated, named source.
A quick checklist helps when you meet a bold claim:
- Look for the original source. A quote should lead back to an interview, not another blog.
- Check the date. Career or job details from 2010 aren’t a 2026 update.
- Distrust social accounts. Unverified profiles using her name may not be hers.
- Watch for confident silence. A page that fills every gap with detail usually invents some of it.
Don’t Confuse Her With Other Simones
Name overlap causes plenty of wrong turns, especially for the Baywatch connection. These are different people:
| Name | Known for | Nationality |
|---|---|---|
| Simone Hyams | Grange Hill, Dirty Weekend | British |
| Simone Kessell | Yellowjackets, Terra Nova | New Zealander |
| Simone McAullay | Blue Heelers | Australian |
| Leila Hyams | 1920s and 1930s film roles | American |
If a search result mentions Yellowjackets or Blue Heelers, you have the wrong Simone. Likewise, Leila Hyams is a Hollywood actress from an earlier era and has no connection to Grange Hill.

Conclusion
Simone Hyams left a clear mark through Grange Hill, added a few small credits in 1993 and 1994, and then stepped away from the screen. The Baywatch cameo was minor, the Michael Winner story rests on thin sourcing, and there is no verified news for 2026.
That gap is the real value of a careful profile. If you’re researching her, cross-check every claim and prefer dated sources over recycled ones.
